A report of Training of Trainers on Employment Support Service (ESS)
Aspire to Innovate (a2i)/UNDP, in
collaboration with the Department of Youth Development (DYD), International
Labour Organization (ILO), and BRAC, and supported by Global Affairs Canada
(GAC), successfully organized a Training of Trainers (TOT) on Employment
Support Services (ESS) under the Improving Skills and Economic Opportunities in
Cox’s Bazar (ISEC) project. This TOT on ESS was held on September 26th at DYD
in Cox’s Bazar, with participation from 22 trainers of training service
providers under the ISEC project of Aspire to Innovate (a2i)/UNDP. The main
goal of the ESS initiative is to strengthen the capacity of trainers to provide
gender-responsive employment services through mentoring to youth under the ISEC
platform,
Mr. Serajul Islam, Project Manager
of the ISEC Project at ILO Bangladesh, highlighted that the ISEC project aims
to increase the employability of NEET (not in employment, education, or
training) youth, women, and other marginalized people in the Cox’s Bazar
district through gender-responsive, market-relevant skills and entrepreneurship
initiatives.
Mr. Md. Moazzem Hossain, Deputy
Director, Department of Youth Development & Deputy Project Director of ISEC
Project mentioned that at the end of this training, the trainers will be able
to develop the required skills of the youth skillfully and professionally,
helping them get decent jobs.
Md. Zillur Rahman, Coordinator of
Skills & Employment Generation at a2i – Aspire to Innovate, provided the
welcome speech and highlighted the development of an Employment Support Service
(ESS) system under the Labor Market Monitoring and Planning Platform. This
system includes functional career guidance and job-matching services.
Additionally, trainers will act as mentors, providing career guidance to youth.
The ESS components of the ISEC platform will serve as a bridge between trainers
and trainees.
Utpal Kumar Biswas, Area Manager,
Skills Development Programme of BRAC highlighted we have established center and
preparatory activities (Career Hub) for graduate youth at the Department of
Youth Development (DYD) in Cox’s Bazar under the ISEC project. Moreover, in
coordination with relevant stakeholders, community-level gender-responsive
career guidance, school-to-work and job placement services for wage-employment are
provided, including to support non-traditional professions of women through the
Career Hub & PROMISE initiative. 
The Employment Support Service (ESS) training was conducted by Shahriar Islam, Master
Trainer at the Wadhwani Foundation (WF). He taught participants about the roles
of trainers of TSPs, how they will guide trainees, and how to build a batch or
faculty by trainees.
